Marked on 14th January for Makar Sankranti, Jaipur’s skies burst with colourful kites. Participants engage in friendly “patangbaazi” battles to cut opponents’ strings, cheered by crowds shouting “Woh katta!”. The event blends tradition with joy, featuring rooftop gatherings, cultural performances, and workshops. Polo Ground and City Palace are prime spots to witness this lively spectacle.
Celebrated in February (10th–12th in 2025), this three-day event amid Jaisalmer's golden sands features camel parades, turban-tying contests, and folk dances including Ghoomar and Kalbeliya. While artists show handcrafted goods and traditional cuisine, fireworks illuminate the arid nights. The celebration respects the past of the area and draws both adventurers and culture vultures.
Celebrated in March (11th in 2025), Holi marks the victory of good over evil. Revelers dance to music, toss coloured powder, and share sweets like gujiya. While bonfires (Holika Dahan) precede the playful anarchy, northern places like Mathura and Vrindavan conduct spectacular celebrations connected to Lord Krishna's stories.
This temple festival occurs between April and May (Malayalam month Medam) at Vadakumnathan Temple.
